Advice wanted on what to see in Malcesine in August

(Chester)

We're off to Malcesine in a couple of weeks, driving for a change. We have been to Malcesine once before and found it a great place to get around on foot and we can hop on the boat to Limone etc. We went on the sailing ship last time and my husband went on the cable car (not my kind of thing).

We're staying in self catering accomodation this time, although we stayed in a lovely hotel last time, we just fancy the freedom of breakfast when we please. Any ideas where else we can go around the lake on days when we're happy to drive, and anywhere within walking distance of Malcesine that we may have missed last time?

We've been to Verona, Venice etc and don't really want to be doing that much driving. Anyone who's there 20th -27th is welcome to meet us for a drink!

Have fun. Jan

Hi Jan,

Yes Malcesine is a great base for a Lake Garda holiday! There is plenty of places you can go from here without taking a big journey. If you haven't been I would recommend taking the ferry to several towns, as this is a great way to get around when it is busy. Limone is a wonderful town, a great place for a day out. Torri del Benaco is another interesting town. Gargnano is a lovely old town and Salo although further away is a great town.

I assume that you have been up Monte Baldo on the cable car? If not get up early one day (before you get too much heat haze) and you can get fantastic views from the top! Also if you like rock climbing or just like visiting an interesting town, Arco north of Torbole is worth a look too.

Hope that helps and have a great time,

Marcus & Sylvia

Hi Jan,

we hope you have a great time when you visit again! We are going to Malcesine for my friends wedding the week after you come back. Their wedding is on the saturday, but we are looking for things to do either side of it really. I'd love to hear from you of any "top tips" on things to do...my partner is also asking if there is a beach locally too?

I'd love to hear back from you...

Hope you have fun!

Thanks!
