We took our holiday to Lake Garda in mid-june. The weather was excellent. Loads of sunshine-ideal for our favourite lazy days....Taking the ferry to the lovely towns on the lakeside.
This was our third visit to Lake Garda. We stayed in Desenzano as it is well served with trains, buses, and all types of boats. However. there is quite an uphill walk trom the port to the rail station and most parts of the town. Next time we will be wiser, and will pick a hotel close to the port..
For ferries you can get an all-day ticket for either half the lake 18 euros or all the lake. With this ticket you can hop on-hop off at any town. Before you hop off make sure there is a boat a little later to hop on to...
Some of the smaller ports have only a few boats a day calling. For trips to Riva and the northern towns , the Rapido fast boat is best, but costs a few euros extra. Well worth a visit, especially for the stunning views of the Dolomites.
This year we visited most of the towns on the southern half. Hoping to return next year to enjoy the northern towns. We may have to break the bank to fund this, but hey we are only old once...
