All that was said already is good advice. I will be in Salo also this summer for 4 nights. I have stayed many times before at different Lake Garda cities. A car can be a burden. The local buses are cheap and convenient. I agree that getting around by boat is the best way even though it costs a bit more. Just be sure your schedule allows you to get back to Salo in time. We also like to take tours from Salo. You can get to Verona, Venezia, Milan, Dolomites etc. We always take the Lake Tour just to see all those wonderful cities in one day by motorcoach and boat. Every city is a gem. This year we are doing the Wine Tour. For all tours we use..... http://www.viaggimolinari.it Back to the car....there are some places only accessible by car like parts of Gargnano and Tremosine and Tignale. But it's not necesary to have a car the entire stay. There is so much to see at lakeside which is accessible by bus and boat. Buon Viaggio!
